Elkhart Plastics Celebrates RV Industry Trends

South Bend, IN – With more than 25 years’ history serving the RV industry, Elkhart Plastics looks forward to increased sales as predicted by The Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).

According to RVIA, RV shipments are expected to reach 339,600 units in 2014—an increase of 5.7 percent over the 321,100 units shipped in 2013.

“RV shipments are growing,” RVIA President Richard Coon said. “Consumer confidence is growing, credit is available, and RVs are visible, popular, and even cool. This is a good time to be in the RV business.”

Additional sales of RVs means Elkhart Plastics’ Middlebury, Elkhart, and Ridgefield (WA) plants may be tapped to produce additional top-quality, rotomolded tanks and storage liners to meet increased industry demand.

Using a rotational molding process, Elkhart Plastics was the first manufacturer in the country to convert steel compartment liners for Class A and Class C motorhomes to one-piece construction.

“Elkhart Plastics was a pioneer in manufacturing compartment liners for Class C and A motorhomes,” said Jack Welter, Elkhart CEO. “We replaced steel and aluminum with one-piece plastic solutions, offering our clients weight and cost savings. In addition to our work with compartment liners, we also produce plastic water tanks, plastic holding tanks, and other products for the RV industry.”
